 OVERVIEW

Begin your journey and audition to join our 27th Anniversary Dance Works Nutcracker Suite and Holiday Showcase.  A portion of proceeds from the performance will be donated to the Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla. 

ELIGIBILITY

Dancers, actors and gymnasts ages 8 through 18 are invited to audition no matter where training is received.

(SELECT AND SIGN UP FOR ONE TIME SLOT BASED ON PERFORMER'S AGE AT TIME OF AUDITION).  If you have interest in performing in more than one piece, indicate other time slot availability and you may be asked to attend.

Audition & Rehearsal Attire 

***Auditions may be filmed and/or photographed.  Please be camera-ready!***

     For Nutcracker roles:

                       - Girls - any solid colored leotard, pink or neautral tights to match ballet 

                          slippers (bring pointe shoes if auditioning en pointe).  Hair in a neat, tidy and 

                          secured bun (short hair secured with pins away from face and neck.  

                          Nails shorts and clean, no colored polish (clear/neutral ok).  No jewelry allowed 

                          including watches, fitness trackers, rings, bracelets, necklaces and hanging 

                          earings.  Small stud earrings permitted.

                            - Boys - white form fitted tshirt, black leggings or tights or form fitted shorts.  

                          Black or white ballet slippers, white socks.  No jewelry.  

     For Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical and Tap Roles:

                       - Girls - solid black top, leggings or shorts, bring any dance shoes you have.  

                          Part of the auditions will be done with jazz shoes, character shoes and 

                          barefoot. If you don't have the shoes you can bring what you have. Hair in 

                          a neat, tidy and secured ponytail with hair away from face and neck.  Short 

                          hair pinned away from face and neck.  No jewelry allowed including 

                          watches, fitness trackers, rings, bracelets, necklaces and hanging earings.  

                          Small stud earrings are permitted.

                          - Boys - Solid black top, black leggings or athletic pants.  Part of the audition 

                          will be done with jazz shoes, hip hop shoes and barefoot.  If you don't have 

                          the shoes you can bring what you have.  No jewelry allowed including 

                          watches, fitness trackers, rings, bracelets, necklaces and earings.  

CASTING DECISIONS

All casting decisions are final.  Communication regarding casting is not permitted between parents and anyone involved in this production. Dancers are cast in roles suitible with dancer's abilities.  Height or size for costuming may also be a factor. Every role is important and we recommend parents help dancer's set their expectations so as to minimize possible disappointment.  We will make every effort to cast all those who audition but it is not guaranteed. Re: Eyewear, we recommend dancers remove for rehearsals and performances as long as it is safe to do so. Otherwise eyewear is permitted.  If they must wear it please secure with a band.

ROLE NOTIFICATION  & ACCEPTING OR DECLINING ROLE(S) Dancers/Parents will receive notification about placement and roles by October 19th (and possibly before for those attending auditions earlier in the week), and must either accept roles / assigned by October 18th with payment to correspond with the role (s).  Please note participation fees will NOT be refunded for those who withdraw from the production.

     DETAILS REGARDING REQUIREMENTS AND FEES:

     Before submitting your audition form and auditioning, dancers and parents of minors must 

     be familiar with and agree to the time commitments as laid out in the rehearsal schedule here 

     (will likely coincide with your audition time so do pick a day/time you can commit to or notate

     otherwise in comments to be considered for other time(s)):

              BALLET  (day of week and time commitments dependent on roles and may correspond

             with audition timing) : 

             Mondays 5:30pm-6:30pm or 6:30pm-7:30pm depending on role and TBA

             7 Rehearsals: 10/19 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30

             OR

             Wednesdays 1-2 hours between 5:10pm - 7:10pm (specific times will depend on roles).

             6 Rehearsals: 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/18, 12/2  (no rehearsal day before Thanksgiving)

             OR

              Thursdays 1-2 hours between 4:05pm - 7:15pm (specific times dependent on roles).

             7 Rehearsals: 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3

              Saturdays 9:40am - 2pm (specific times 1-2 hours to coincide with audition time, or

FEES, PAYMENTS & DEADLINE - Fees to be paid by 10/19, Payable via Zelle or PayPal to info@danceworks.us (please follow this up with a text to 914-714-2131 to confirm receipt)

If fees are not received by 10/19, parts will be reallocated to others.   

             AUDITION FEE: $0 

             FEE TO PARTICIPATE: $350 (for each group piece) .  If you are assigned a solo, duet 

             or trio you will be notified of additional fees should they apply.  

                  Includes:

                  - Rehearsals

                  - Costume Rental

                  - Theater/Stage Time/Staff & Production Costs 

                  - Digital access to the performance recording (audience photography 

                    and taping is not permitted)

                  - Performer's Ticket (all performers will watch the show and sit with 

                     their group)
